Mistakes to Avoid When Buying Coffee I'm sure that not only once you have burnt yourself buying the wrong coffee roast, or just buying bad coffee. There are quite a few aspects that you might have overlooked, which lead you to making that mistake. There are also other mistakes that you can make if you want to
buy coffee beans, and why learn from your own mistakes, if you can learn from the ones other people have already made?
If you want to buy coffee beans from a store or if you want to
buy coffee online as I do, here are the mistakes you should stay clear off:
1. Firstly, don't buy any type of coffee beans unless you have determined which kind of roast you prefer. Many people don't even think about this, they just simply say, "this coffee is bad" when they don't like it, without knowing that particular roast has a particular flavor that they don't like. So, determine which coffee you like: chocolaty, full-bodied, nutty etc.
2. Don't buy coffee just from anywhere. First of all, conduct a little research and find a specialty coffee gourmet shop where you find and also get additional information about coffee beans. Also, in case you're looking for a large quantity supplier, that gourmet shop may just have the connection you've been looking for and they will hook you up.
3. Don't buy a custom coffee blend until you sample it. Many specialty shops offer their own blend, which may or may be not on your taste. Before buying a quantity of coffee beans from a custom blend, try out a small sample. I usually stick to the standard coffee blends, like Mocha-Java or Green Mountain.
4. Never buy ground coffee. If you're a coffee enthusiast, you should know that coffee must be ground right before brewing, to benefit from its maximum taste and aroma. Ground coffee quickly loses its properties becoming flat. So, if you don't need just a small pack just for a quick weekend vacation for example, don't buy coffee that's been already ground even if it was packed in a void sealed container.
5. Don't buy coffee online unless you've been knowing that particular supplier and its coffee for a while. If you buy coffee online, you won't be able to sample it, or to verify the date it was roasted, how old it is etc. If you're a really busy person and really don't have time to cruise the specialty stores, and you live in UK, you can follow one of these links here if you want to buy coffee beans online. They have only the good stuff.
